Scenes is a blanket term for roleplays that have much, much more detail than general in game roleplay.
For example, two players in a scene would take turns posting replies to the previous post, usually with great detail. While being able to post long replies isn't required, it's usually a more favorable approach to private roleplays.
Usually, most people will scene with you if you're able to prove you can put a lot effort into your writing. It's easy to tell.
